Government: New Danube bridge needed for Paks upgrade
Budapest (MTI) – Talks with nearby localities involved in the Paks nuclear upgrade project have shown that there is need for a new Danube bridge linked to the Paks project, the government spokesman said.
Many people from the 41 towns and villages near Paks in central Hungary will be working at the nuclear plant and need the bridge to save them time on commuting, Zoltan Kovacs told public news channel M1 on Friday.
Cabinet chief Janos Lazar said earlier that the government had given the go-ahead to building the new bridge over the Danube near Kalocsa. The construction would create 6,000-8,000 jobs, Lazar said.
